I think I’m still in shock that 2013 is over. When I was younger, I swear time didn’t used to go this fast. Ha how old did I just sound then? Anyway, a new year means a good old look back at the previous year, and when you’re a beauty blogger, that means a good old look at that year’s favourites. So just where do I start?
Primer: No changes with my ultimate favourite being the Tea Tree Pore minimiser primer, that was in last year’s favourites though, but a 2013 new addition is 17’s Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter. A pearly highlighter that I have been using underneath my foundation for extra glow and as a highlighter to get that dewy look, that you all know I love.
Foundation: Two foundations that have stood out for me in 2013 are YSL’s Touche Eclat foundation, which will always be a winner in my eyes, medium coverage, light and glowy. Just perfect. However the price tag isn’t perfect, buying a new bottle of this, doesn’t leave me with much change from £30, and that’s always depressing. So a budget friendly foundation, I have been enjoying using is Bourjois Happy Light foundation, again medium coverage and gives you a ‘glow.’ You’re also left with a happier bank balance.
Blusher: Topshop’s Cream Blusher, have made a reappearance in my most used products, with Flush a corally pink being my most used, they are easy to blend, pigmented and aren’t as dry and chalky as some powder blushers.
Highlighter: So this is where the list is probably as long as my arm, I do love a good highlighter, MAC’s Soft and Gentle has been a well used favourite for adding a shimmer to my face, 17 Skin Wow Highlighter, again is a must have for me.
Powder: What’s this a powder in my favourites? Cor blimey. Bourjois’s Java Rice has been great for applying under the eyes for airbrushed, illuminated finish.
Eyes: My favourite eye palette of the year has to be Charlotte Tilbury’s Golden Goddess palette, purley for the glitter shade which is just amazing. The colours work so well together and are just so dreamy to use. Only thing is now I want more, Dolce Vite is calling my name. Sigh. Another nod goes to Nars And God Created Woman palette, another beautiful neutral palette that I just had to have.
Mascara: I’ve discovered a few good mascara’s this year, shout outs to Benefit’s They’re Real, Maybelline The Falsies and Magnetic Mascara.
Eyeliner: Of course my trusty Maybelline Gel Eyeliner will always be my favourite but Rimmel’s Scandaleyes liners have come in close at second. The nude and black are perfect to work with, they last a fair while too.
Lips: Special mentions lipstick wise go to, YSL’s Rouge Volupte in Peach Passion, Bourjois Colour Boost Peach on the Beach and L’oreal’s Collection Privee Cheryl’s Greige Glow.
