Can you believe that it’s Black Friday this week? I’m sorry but where has November gone? Time really does fly when you’re in lockdown eh? Or maybe not.
Anyways, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are fast approaching, and I feel like this year, it’s going to be a big one, considering as a lot of physical stores will still be closed due to lockdown (well this is the case in England.)
I have a list of things that I want to try and get, and today I thought I’d write some tips on shopping the sales, but also what I’ll be doing across my social channels over the next week or so 🙂
So what is it?
Black Friday as you may know is the day where a lot of retailers give massive discounts on their products, it’s become more of a thing here in the UK over the past few years and the whole week is known as Cyber Week, where every day different discounts appear – it’s a great time for getting your christmas shopping done!
What To Look For
So I can pretty much guarantee that most places will have some kind of Black Friday/cyber week deal on, in fact some places are already doing early discounts. Places like Topshop tend to do site wide 20% discount, whilst places like Amazon have different deals on different items each day, but here are the things I usually look for.
Gifts : Hands up who else said they were going to be organised this year then realised it’s a little over a month till christmas and still doesn’t have anyone’s presents? Good not just me then. I’m definitely going to be trying to do most of my Christmas shopping this cyber week, a lot of the beauty retailers do great site wide discounts which is perfect for gift sets, and fragrance. Although I will be trying to mainly shop local/small business’s this year, I do find places like the Amazon daily deal sections to be very helpful when looking for presents for people when I don’t know what to buy.
Beauty : I’m hoping for some good beauty discounts this year, this is the time to buy high end make up, as you’ll be saving a bit of money – winner winner. I’d recommend looking out for Charlotte Tilbury, department stores, Cult Beauty, Look Fantastic, etc… as these places usually do good deals!
Hair : If you’ve been eyeing up a new hair tool, or wanting to gift one, this would be the time to get it! Like I said, many beauty retailers will probably have site wide discount, but places like ghd usually do quite good deals too!
Home : Again now is the time to get those more expensive house purchases: new hoover? Active fryer? Now is the time my friends.
Fashion : Although we’re not really going anywhere atm, a lot of the big retailers ; Topshop*, ASOS*, Mango,* New Look*, will most likely have site wide discounts on.
What I’m Going To Be Buying
Baby bits : So I have been holding off getting some bits for the baby because of Black Friday being around the corner, this is the time I think that we’ll be buying ; a next to me bedside crib, bottle prep such as a steriliser, bits of baby clothing, bedding for the crib, a playmat and I have been eyeing up one of those electric baby bouncers I think Joie do one and so do Mama’s and Papa’s. But now is the time to get those more bigger baby purchases, prams, car seats, etc… as they will most likely all be on offer so a great time to save a few pennies!

Gifts : Like I said I have been a bit dis organised with the Christmas gifts so I’m going to make a list and try and get organised. I have a few things in mind for people already so it’s just a case of waiting things out.

Beauty : I desperately need a top up of some of my favourite make up products, so I feel now is the time to get them. I’m hoping there will be some Charlotte Tilbury offers as I want to repurchase the Flawless Filter, and I also need a top up of the It Cosmetics CC cream and the Becca under eye corrector (so hopefully somewhere like cult beauty will come to the rescue!) I am also hoping to pick up a gel manicure set as I’ve finally decided to give this a go (fingers crossed for a Mylee discount!)

Fitness : I am really hoping for some fitness places to have some good deals this year, although I’m sure nothing will beat being in Canada last year and getting some amazing discounts on LuluLemon, I’m hoping online will be just as a good. There’s some bits I’d like to pick up as Christmas presents!

Tech : I don’t know if I’m being hopeful but I’m not sure if there may even be some good tech deals around, I’m desperate to upgrade my phone – could this be the time maybe? Also thinking of getting some polaroid film and new SD cards so we’re all ready for when the baby arrives 🙂

Tips For Getting The Best Deal :
My first tip is to think about whether you do actually want to buy something or whether it’s just the discount. Don’t be lured into buying stuff you don’t actually want to buy/need to buy, I’m trying to be quite strict with myself and not just buy willy nilly – instead I’m making a list and then I’ll be working out whether the discount seems enough, etc…
I have fallen into this trap so many times before, and I am trying to be a bit better with money and online shopping, but I do feel like this is a great time to buy stuff that you’ve been eyeing up/need as you can save some serious money which is great.
My next tip is to check the sites where you want to get stuff from daily, I’ll be posting daily picks and round ups on my Instagram stories so check those out if you’re interested in any of the same bits I’m eyeing up.
Finally, I would recommend downloading a plug in such as Honey (this isn’t an ad or anything like that at all) as this will tell you all the discounts there are for a retailer, I use this all the time and you’d be surprised that sometimes you can even get discounts on top of discounts. Topshop is a great place for this as you can usually get student discount on top of whatever site wide discount is on, so I’d definitely recommend looking as every little helps!

I’m going to post some more gift ideas next week too which hopefully may give some inspiration if you’re struggling atm, and well we’ll see what else I can do – maybe some hauls / outfit ideas also!
