A couple of years ago, I started a new series on my blog called ‘Worth The Instagram hype? In which I talked about products that were hyped on Instagram and whether they were worth the hype or just a pretty flat-lay prop.
Anyways, standard me, only did this for one post and then promptly forgot about it, but today, we are back with a new addition to this series, and we are talking about skincare brand Summer Fridays.
This new skincare brand has been founded by Instagram royalty Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Gores after they felt they could never find the perfect skincare products for their skin.
The range which only consists of a few products at the moment, are focused on the more natural side of beauty. With simple ingredients and no sulphates, parabens, or synthetic dyes or fragrances, the products are aimed for you get to the results you want but without any harsh ingredients.
Having suffered many years with acne, and then post roaccutane, my skin has been very sensitive and clogs up SO easily. So this approach to skincare is so up my street.
Also all the products are vegan and cruelty free too.

So the products sound amazing right? The brand has two inspiring founders and let’s not lie- the products look pretty- but are they actually any good?
I was super excited to be contacted by Summer Fridays just before we went to Canada, the Jet Lag mask was actually on my Sephora shopping list so the email couldn’t of come at a better time!
I was very kindly sent three products to try; The Jet Lag Mask (affiliate link), The Overtime Mask (affiliate link) and The CC Me Serum (affiliate link.)
Okay and spoiler alert, I LOVE them all.
I’ve been using these products for the past couple of months, and my god do I love them.
So let’s get stuck in, let’s talk about each individual product and why I love them so much.
Jet Lag Mask

The first product released by Summer Fridays, and this super hydrating mask (affiliate link), is perfect for dehydrated, stressed out skin, thanks to it’s ingredients list including a nourishing mix of vitamins, ceramides, antioxidants and gently exfoliating extracts.
It’s great for using when you’re really tired, have been on a long plane journey, or your skin just needs TLC – which my skin constantly needs in the Winter!
I tend to use this more of an intensive treatment than just a mask, I tend to put this on before bed and then sleep in it. My skin feels revived, moisturised and soft. And it doesn’t break me out at all! Hoorah.
The hero ingredients include : Chestnut extract which helps to polish away dull skin leaving it radiant and looking like you’ve just had a cracking nights sleep. Vitamin C- an amazing anti oxidant which brightens the skin and acts like a moisture magnet. Also Niacinamidea which is a naturally occurring compound of Vitamin B3 and nicotinic acid, this super ingredient visibly reduces pores, uneven skin and fine lines.
My skin always looks so glowy and moisturised after using this and I absolutely adore it. I cleanse, tone my skin, sometimes I use the Overtime mask before this, then I’ll add some hyluranonic acid and slather this on.
DREAMY.

The next product we’re going to talk about is the Overtime Mask. An exfoliating mask which is perfect for clarifying skin and helping to polish away dead skin cells.
Gentle on the skin thanks to natural ingredients, I tend to use this once a week when my skin is looking a bit congested/dull. I find it helps to smoothen everything out without being too harsh or making my skin purge which I hate from clarifying masks sometimes!
The ingredients include Pumpkin, with Vitamin A, K & C which helps to exfoliate the skin yet hydrating it at the same time. Apricot seed powder which helps to sweep away dead skin cells, Oat Kernel Protein which has an irritant and anti inflammatory properties (perfect for skin like mine which is a total diva!) And Vitamin E which is an anti oxidant that helps with ageing and acts like a bodyguard for your skin.
I again love this product, I tend to pop it on, leave for about half an hour and wipe off and then apply the Jet Lag Mask.

So I think this is the newest addition to the Summer Fridays range (there is a new launch coming this week though!) and when I saw Marianna Hewitt talking about it on Instagram, I wasn’t sure if it was something I’d be interested in.
However plot twist, this is my FAVOURITE product from the range.
This stuff is amazing, like holy grail amazing.
So this serum as you may have guessed has vitamin C in, and I can’t even put into words * but I will try* how good this makes my skin look.
Described on the Summer Fridays website as ; ‘The ultimate time-saving multitasker for bright, hydrated, filter-free skin with a single swipe.”
It sounds intriguing right? So this I use under my make up, I’ve never really found a serum I get on with before, but this- I now won’t be without. This brightening serum helps to make your skin super glowy, helps to reduce dark spots and hyperpigmentation, whilst also adding moisture and peptides to originate youthful looking skin.
This makes my skin look SO good. It’s a little miracle in a bottle, it makes my skin look glowy, bright, refreshed- just really good.
When I don’t use this, I notice such a difference, my skin looks dull, tired- it looks like I’ve had 20 minutes sleep after getting in from a night out at 5 am which we all know never happens cause I’m a grandma.
I was shocked the first time I didn’t use this, I was like ‘whats wrong with my skin?’ And I realised it was because I hadn’t used the serum.
It’s like an instagram filter in a bottle, it’s SO good.
So what’s in this little bottle of goodness? Well we have Vitamin C 1 & 2 – which are two forms of skin brighteners, Vitamin C to target dark spots as well as hyperpigmentation. Squalane for an extra moisture boost, which also creates a protective barrier on the skin. Peptide complex which helps to promote youthful looking skin, and a botanical cocktail including fruit, flower extracts, antioxidant rich coffee, green tea and clove to combat inflammation.
Again this serum doesn’t clog my skin, or break me out! Yes it’s expensive but I do think it’s worth it.
So there we go, Summer Fridays has been officially given my ‘worth the instagram hype’ award. Great products with great ingredients that do what you want, and bonus- the products also look good on your dressing table, what’s not to love?
I’d love to know if you’ve tried anything from Summer Fridays?
