If you’ve been reading my blog for a few years, you will know that I pretty much wear my hair big and wavy for the most part.
You will also know that I usually use heated rollers to style my hair, and I would say that I was (probably) heated roller’s number 1 fan.
I used to love, love my Enrapture heated rollers, then I had some Remington ones which I loved, but it always seems that heated rollers get discontinued (boo) and I had to buy a set from Babyliss last year after my Remington ones bit the dust.
Initially, we got on well, and I haven’t completely ditched them, but for some reason, they just don’t seem to last too long in my hair anymore, so I’ve been trying to look for something else to create big voluminous curls.
Well, long story short- I’ve found something, and today I thought I’d share what my new fave hair tool is, and how I’ve been curling my hair recently.
Also the best news? The hair tool in question is under £30.
So, I won’t leave you hanging too long- the curling tongs in question are the Babyliss Pro 38 mm Ceramic Dial a Heat Tongs.
I got these, after seeing my hairdresser use them on my hair, and I loved the effect of them.
The large barrel creates voluminous waves, and it doesn’t take too long either to use on your hair.
So, how do I use them?
Well first of all, I set the temperature on them, they go up to 250 degrees which I would totally not recommend using, as this will make your hair smell burnt! I tend to use them on 190. I dial the setting to this heat, press the button and wait for them to heat up.
They’re not the quickest to heat up, but they’re a lot quicker than my rollers which is another reason, why I’ve stopped using them recently!
So I section my hair off, I tend to curl the bottom sections first, hold the hair in the tong for about 10 seconds and then let go.
I do this for the middle section, finishing off with the front section of my hair around my face. I tend to take quite big sections of hair, and then once it’s all curled, I tend to go back and re-do some sections.
I then spray with hair spray, I currently use this one from V05, and then spray in this texture spray from OUAI.
Then I am pretty much done, it takes me about 15 minutes, and that’s it. I usually find this works best on second day hair.
So, that is how I do my hair these days. I do have my eye on the ghd Soft Curl tongs, as I know if I went to the states, these Babyliss ones wouldn’t work. Let me know if any of you have them and if they’re worth the price!
Have you got a fave curling tong/wand? Let me know which ones you love!
