Fun fact for you: Tanya Burr was one of the first youtubers I ever watched. Her sisters in law Nic and Sam Chapman aka Pixiwoo were the first YTers I watched but soon after seeing Tanya in their videos, I was a TB fan too. I used to always follow her make up tutorials for nights out, and many a make up purchase was made thanks to Tanya’s videos. Fast forward a few years, and Tanya isn’t just a beauty YouTuber anymore, she’s a business woman with a cosmetics line and two books to her name. Her most recent make up collection, is in my opinion her best yet (and the prettiest.)
I was very kindly sent some bits from the range to try (although I was literally about to order the matte lipsticks myself a few days earlier) and today I’m going to talk about the products, are they as good as they are pretty? Well let me grab a cuppa, and we’ll chat.
This is one of those ranges, that I feel will cater to a wide audience. Like I’ve spoken about before, sometimes YouTuber beauty ranges can be aimed at a younger audience, but the Soft Luxe Collection could happily belong in the make up bag of any age range. The products that caught my eye initially when the range was released were the new matte lip colours. Previously, Tanya had only released glosses, so I was really excited to see matte lip colours. Matte lips are very on trend right now and I loved the three colours; Martha Moo ( a nude brown think very 90s very Kylie Jenner) Puppy Paws ( a bright flamingo pink ) and Rhubarb and Custard ( a bright coral colour). I saw Tanya wearing Rhubarb and Custard on her Instagram a little while back and said to my sister ‘ I need that lip colour in my life.’ And I’m not even a bright lip kinda girl, so I must have liked it.
The products are all packaged beautifully, a frosted almost glass effect to represent the matte finishes and gold accents. I feel like the eye palettes are packaged slightly younger, but the nail polishes and lip sticks are pretty dreamy. The eyeshadows, are buttery and pigmented. I was pretty impressed with how pigmented they were and how nice they felt. The Enchanted Dream Palette is a neutral palette which you could use for your eyes but also your eyebrows too if you fancied. It’s a good multi use palette and think it would be a good one to have in your make up bag as it’s very versatile.
I must admit that I haven’t actually worn the nail polishes on my nails yet, so I can’t comment on how long they last, but from swatching them, they are incredibly pretty colours and seemed opaque and thick. They do have a matte finish, which I’m not the hugest fan of, but you could easily add a glossy top coat on top, if you too aren’t a fan of matte nails. I just don’t like the feel of them for some reason which is a shame as I’d love to wear matte nails. New Chapter is an almost dusky lilac and then Piggy Bank is a dusky pink, both are very pretty colours and quite unusual too which I like. I think they’ll be perfect for Autumn as they’re almost a grungy pastel.
As predicted the lip colours are my fave out of the lot. They are very matte and pigmented so I soon found that I needed to make sure I had lip balm on my lips before applying, otherwise the colour showed every flaw of my lip. Puppy Paws is super bright in real life, it’s a bright pink, almost quite barbie like on me, which I probably wouldn’t wear day to day, but is still very pretty.
I love Martha Moo as it’s so easy to wear, I tend to pop some on and then rub it in with my finger as this then ensures that the lip colour lasts a long time. I also love Rhubarb & Custard as it’s a perfect summery lipstick. They smell super sweet which I love, but my one tip would be to make sure your lips are well moisturised before using them.
The whole collection is very pretty but also very well made too. The products last a long time, are all pigmented and feel a lot more expensive than their low cost price tag. Like I said, the collection doesn’t feel too young, and I think if you’re into matte lips you need to check out the matte lipsticks. I’m very impressed and hope that Tanya will release more colours into this range, I’m hoping for some A/W colours such as a berry lip and navy and grey matte nails.
Have you got any of the Soft Luxe Collection?
