Do you remember that hair tool in the 90s called Crazy Braid or something? Basically, it was supposed to braid your hair and make you look really cool, but instead it just ended up tangling your hair up and you’d have to run to your Mum to rescue your hair. I mean the advert that they showed on the TV when you were watching CD:UK obviously lied, cause you never looked like a groovy chick as promised.
After this traumatising time as a youngster, I have stayed away from braiding tools, or any kind of complicated hair tool. Well that’s until I received new hair tool on the block Scunci Insta Twist, which I was a bit dubious of at first, I won’t lie. The Scunci Insta Twist is described as the ‘must have hair tool for creating hair twists and braid effects.’ At first, I just had visions of tangling my hair up like I did in the late 90s.
However I needn’t have worried, cause I am now a convert. Battery powered, Scunci Insta Twist is a great tool to take away with you to festivals, holidays, etc… as you don’t need a mains socket. It also comes with two AA batteries to start you off too, as well as 50 clear elastics so you can start twisting straight away.
So how do you use it? Okay so all you do is take two pieces of hair, you slot each side into the grips, then there is a switch, you push it up which twists the two pieces of hair. Then to put them together, you push down on the switch with interlinks the two pieces of hair together.
It’s so easy to do, doesn’t tangle your hair, and creates really cool twists in your hair. I had lots of fun playing with it and will be featuring it in my next video; a Summer Hair Tutorial, in which I do some cool braids and stuff.
I did a half up half down style, which I love doing a lot anyways, but this just made things a lot quicker and gave a different look to the usual braids I wear.
There’s loads of ways how you can use this tool, I decided to have a go at creating a fishtail braid, which I can just about do but can never achieve that really messy boho look. So I tied my hair into a side pony, and then twisted sections of the pony, till all the pony was in one inch twisted sections.
Then I split the pony in to half, and twisted the the two sides of twists. I then brought the two sides together and tied them together with a clear elastic, and to my surprise, I had this perfect messy fishtail braid, although it took me a little longer twisting each section, I managed to finally have the messy boho fishtail braid that I’d always admired on others.
This video featuring Lou Teasdale probably explains what I’m on about a bit easier!
I can see myself using this tool a lot over the summer, and think it’s perfect for taking on holiday with you for creating easy cute hairstyles. You can get the tool from places like Superdrug and Argos for £29.99. Keep your eyes peeled on my Instagram though, as I’ll be giving one away next week!! 🙂
Have you tried Scunci Insta Twist or are you tempted to?
Also do you remember the dreaded crazy braid? Haha.
