Swatches: L-R: Mac Soft & Gentle, Benefit Watts Up
Okay so you guys all know that I am a big fan of highlighters. To me they are the shoes and handbags of the make up world and an essential part of my everyday make up routine. Yes most days, I do walk round like Edward Cullen but hey he was a hottie so I can get away with it. However after using many highlighters, I have finally narrowed down my two ultimate favourites. You could say they are my holy grail highlighters, I know right, high praise indeed!
The Powder Highlighter: MAC Soft & Gentle: You can either get a powder or creamy highlighter, and depending on preference they have slightly different finishes to one another. MAC’s Soft and Gentle is a highlighter I have probably banged on about one too many times, but it’s a goody and definitely worth my ramblings! I find that sometimes powder highlighters can be a bit cakey and just sit on the skin, however soft and gentle just glides onto the skin and gives you this amazing glow. A little goes a long way, and this product is huge so it will probably last you for ages. It also sticks around all day, it’s just an amazing highlighter. Although it might be a bit too much for some people day to day, it’s perfect for evenings and going out, and of course if you don’t mind unleashing a bit of shimmer in the daytime like me, then you’ll also love this!
The Cream Highlighter: Benefit Watt’s Up: I’ve been after this highlighter for some time and finally took the plunge a couple of months ago! This creamy highlighter is perfect for creating a dewy glow that makes you look radiant. Being a bit more subtle than MAC’s Soft and Gentle it’s perfect for daytime. Although its creamy, it’s really blendable and doesn’t go cakey at all. It also lasts all day, and just gives you an amazing glow. It’s really hard to describe but it’s just the perfect highlighter.
I love these two highlighters, they both give a pearly sheen to your cheekbones, and it’s a really flattering shade from both of them that I’m sure would suit a variety of skin tones. If I had to throw all out my highlighters and never buy another one ever again, to be honest, I’d be quite content with these two! So let me know, what’s your favourite highlighter? Is there anything I’m missing out on?
