I’ve been really excited to write this gift guide up, as being 8 months pregnant myself, this is the exact gift guide that I would probably send someone if they asked me what I wanted for Christmas – and although I am posting this probably a bit too close to Christmas – I thought this could serve as a gift guide for New Mum’s all year round…
I’ve been asking on Instagram what any of you would have liked to have recieved as a gift when you were expecting/ a new mum, I’ve also of course added in any bits that I think would be a nice gift too!
Also please feel free to comment below if there’s anything else you’d suggest too 🙂
So let’s begin …
Nightwear – Pyjamas and Dressing Gowns –
I know that nightwear is probably a bit of a cliche but I personally think they never go wrong – especially when you’re pregnant. Right now, pretty much as soon as it gets dark, I’m in my pyjamas, I just want to be comfortable at all times. I’d recommend getting ones that are super soft, and also a fluffy warm dressing gown would also be a good shout for something to pack in a hospital bag!
Beauty Products :
You do have to be careful with beauty products when you’re pregnant due to ingredients and also your skin is a bit more sensitive due to hormones, but products that are for pregnancy such as Mama Mio products are a lovely gift idea. I have the Mama Mio tummy butter and pregnancy boob tube which are so lovely and soothing! Below are a few more of my beauty picks too …
Beauty Voucher :
Whilst we’re talking about beauty, a really nice gift idea is a voucher for a beauty treatment. Maybe your Mum to be / New Mum has a favourite place to get her nails or brows done, or does she like to get her lashes done but only ever as a treat? Or do you think she’d absolutely love a pregnancy massage or a facial to relax which sounds lovely for any sleep deprived Mum’s right now.
I think giving Mum a voucher to have a pamper is a lovely gift, she can use it to relax and hopefully will make her feel good. It also means you’re supporting a local business too!
Treatment ideas :
Manicures and Pedicures (especially helpful for anyone who is heavily pregnant as trust me when I say painting your toes is a mission)
Pregnancy massage or pregnancy reflexology
Facial (more for new mum’s – might help to relax and calm skin when your hormones and sleep is all over the shop)
Lashes- something like lash extensions or LVL may be great for a New Mum as it’ll make her feel more glam and save her time with make up in the morning.
Blow dry – who doesn’t love having their hair done properly? Treat her to a blow dry/style.
Reusable Coffee Cup –
Something I think I’ll be asking for is a reusable coffee cup as I don’t have one which is crazy, and think this will be super helpful for walks with the baby and Frank in a couple of month’s time! Also can be used round the house and will keep your drink warmer for longer!
Keepsake Presents :
I love this baby photo album and think this would be a lovely gift to receive, other things that are lovely and personal are jewellery ( i love these bracelets) a new Mum gift box from Poppy & Kind or if you’ve got a little bit of budget and Mum doesn’t have one, what about even a polaroid camera and some film for her to take some treasured memories on?
Foodie Presents :
A lot of new Mum’s said that something that they really appreciated was when their friends and family batch cooked meals for them. I think this is a lovely present and something that is really thoughtful. You could do some big dishes of her favourite meals, or even get her a voucher for her favourite takeaway/restaurant. But I’ve heard that this is one of the best presents any new Mum could get 🙂
Gift Of Time :
Another gift idea is your time, which may sound a little weird, and I know things are difficult right now during covid times, but you could always draw up some gift vouchers for your time, these could be 1 hour of my time in where I’ll help look after the baby whilst you shower/nap/etc… 1 evening of babysitting – you get my drift.
Like I said it is difficult right now with us all being during a pandemic, but we can still go on walks, and hopefully at some point in the not too distant future, life will return to normal ish and things like being able to pop round to look after the baby for an hour will be okay again. I think this is a really thoughtful idea and really shows how much you care, for me this would be the best gift of all- it’s pretty overwhelming being pregnant/ a new mum, so knowing you have some support would make a world of difference.
Something For The Baby –
Whilst I would say that it’s nice to stick to something for Mum for a gift, that being said, a little something for the baby is always appreciated too.

Maybe you could ask if there’s anything she needs/would like and then add it alongside a present for her, I was recently sent some gorgeous gifts from Emile Et Rose which are just beautiful, these would make a perfect gift as they’re a little more special. This babygrow is just so special, and they also do other gift options too like this blanket and this cute bib gift set.
Things For Her Hospital Bag :
If you’re thinking of ideas for a first time mum to be, why not look up some bits she could pack in her hospital bag? You could get her a selection of her favourite snacks, a handheld fan, some cosy slippers, a make up bag filled with mini toiletries like mini shower gel, toothpaste, toothbrush, or some luxurious mini travel toiletries.
Or you could get her a pre packed hospital bag like you can get from Something a little different which is a really thoughtful gift and she can then add her own personal touches to it. But it’s so well prepped, you could happily take this and be ready to go!
I hope that this gift guide has been helpful! Like I said if you have any other suggestions, let me know in the comments!
