If you’re looking to have a chill for the next two days, then I have some things that you definitely need to add to your ‘to watch’ list.
I did a post like this, back in January, which you can catch up with here, but today I wanted to talk about some things that I have watched lately that I’ve really enjoyed.
The Marvelous Mrs Maisel
Okay, so I did write about this in my last ‘what to watch’ post, butttttt I was only a couple of episodes in, so I didn’t have the full appreciation of Midge Maisel – which I have now. So this is my number one recommendation. If you watch one thing, from this post, make it this.
The Marvelous Mrs Maisel is on Amazon Prime video, and it’s so, so good. It’s set in the late 1950’s (the fashion and aesthetics are amazing) and is based around Midge, whose life is turned upside down when her husband leaves her and she accidentally falls into doing stand up comedy.
It’s funny, it’s just brilliant. I’m going to re watch it again, I loved it that much. One of the best things that I have watched in ages!!
Sex Education
So I’m probably one of the last people to watch this, but if like me, you’re a little behind on the cult Netflix shows, I’d definitely recommend Sex Education. Based around a group of teenagers, it focuses on Otis, a student who finds himself becoming the school’s sex therapist. It covers a lot of issues which so many young people and adults go through, which I think is so good, and is a good watch for young people to help them feel less alone. It’s a very easy watch and we watched the first season (there’s only 8 episodes) within 3 days!
Isn’t It Romantic
If you’re looking for a cheesy rom com to watch on a Sunday afternoon under a blanket, then this is the one for you. Featuring a pretty well-known cast including Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth and Priyanka Chopra amongst others, it focuses on Natalie, a woman who suffers a concussion and wakes up to find her life is like a romantic comedy.
It takes the mick of rom com’s, whilst being one, but it’s quite funny, has a nice message and is very aesthetically pleasing. A super easy watch, that had me laughing out loud.
Derry Girls
So I’ve been meaning to watch this for ages, as I kept catching bits of it and thinking ‘this is so funny!’ But finally last week, I got on 4OD and watched Season 1 – and I’m very glad I did.
Derry girls is set in Londonderry, it focuses on four girls and ‘one wee english fella.’ It’s set in the early 90s and shows their life growing up. It’s very funny, and with the episodes only being 24 mins long, it’s very almost too easy to sit and binge in one go. Season 2 has not long started, and I’m excited to see what happens next. Also Sister Michael is the best character hands down- she’s amazing.
Friends From College
So another easy watch is Friends from College on Netflix. I watched season 1 about two years ago, and I kind of tolerated it. But season 2 was so much better. However, I’ve heard that it won’t be getting renewed so this means- no season 3, which is a bit of a shame as it kind of ended on a cliffhanger.
However with that being said, the reason why I’m including it, is because I did find it quite funny and you should watch mainly for Sam’s wardrobe. The characters are all pretty awful, but it’s quite amusing and very easy to just put on. But yeah seriously – Sam’s wardrobe 🙌🏻
And there we go- some things I’ve watched recently that I’ve really enjoyed.
