So I have a bit of a thing for highlighters. I suppose some girls love shoes and handbags, some love lipstick but me I like highlighters. By the way, just so we all know, I am talking about highlighters for the face not the Stabilo Boss highlighter in your pencil case kind. Okay so now that’s cleared up, it was no surprise that when I saw that Charlotte Tilbury was releasing a new highlighter for her make up collection, I had to have it. Although it was pretty pricey, after passing my driving test (it was a long time coming trust me) I thought it was a fitting enough excuse to buy the bar of gold. And hasn’t everyone always wanted their own bar of gold? I think I watched way too many game shows when I was younger. Fort Boyard still disturbs me to this day.
Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold Highlighter
Okay so after making the splurge, the bar of gold arrived. Sadly it was delivered by a postman, I was kind of hoping for a Wise Man to come knocking at my door, I mean it is almost Christmas. Now I have to admit, I didn’t do a lot of reading into this product before I bought it, I saw the words highlighter and Charlotte Tilbury that was enough for me. Now I may of missed the ‘metallic paper’ bit of the description, so when it arrived I was somewhat disappointed with the packaging. It was a lot smaller than I imagined, and the packaging looks a little shoddy dare I say. I feel like it’s been wrapped up like a Operation Shoebox that you sent to Africa at Christmas time in Primary School. However the product itself is a lot more impressive than the packaging thankfully.
The highlighter itself is very pretty, gold toned with quite a lot of glitter. It’s very pigmented, and a little goes a long way. I would say though that it is very shimmery, I mean I will happily wear a glittery eye in the daytime, but sometimes I think this highlighter is maybe a bit too much for the day. It’s perfect for nights out or special occasions, but I feel it’s a bit of a waste to just use when I’m going to work and dealing with grumpy customers. They don’t deserve the Charlotte Tilbury highlighter. Don’t get me wrong I think this is a very pretty highlighter but unless you go out a lot and you’re a real highlighter enthusiast you probably don’t need it in your collection.
What’s your favourite highlighter? Any I need in my life?
